PROSTHETICS

Losing a limb is a traumatic experience. You may feel helpless, frightened, angry and fear you will never again live a “normal” life. All of these emotions and more are normal reactions to losing a limb, but becoming an amputee does not signal an end of a full and productive life. You can rise to the challenge and we are here to help you, every step of the way.

Kootenai Prosthetics & Orthotics practitioners focus on what you can do, not what you cannot do, and our goal is to fit you with a prosthesis that gives you the ability to work, live and play as vigorously as you did before your amputation.

Our patients range from children to senior citizens to athletes, each with unique physical circumstances and personal goals, and our greatest compliment is watching a patient walk with confidence, comfort and complete control. In many cases, we are privileged to see our patients ski down mountains or across lakes, ride horses or bicycles, or return to work in fields and forests.

At KPO we believe that exceptional techniques yield exceptional outcomes and we utilize the latest innovations in materials and componentry to produce and fit you with an appropriate, thoughtfully designed prosthesis. Because we work with patients from post-operative care through fitting and lifetime adjustments, we enjoy long-term relationships with our patients.

ORTHOTICS

Perhaps you need a brace (or orthosis) to support or correct a muscle or bone impairment, disease or deformity. Or custom arch supports, knee orthosis, acute care fracture brace or post surgical spinal brace.

Kootenai Prosthetics & Orthotics will work with you and your physician to provide you with custom orthotic devices that fit your lifestyle. We share your goal to walk or move confidently, comfortably and in complete control. Practitioners receive continual advanced training to increase clinical knowledge, learn new practices and maintain state-of-the-art techniques.

KPO provides pre-operative and post-operative orthotics, supports and braces. Our pediatric patients include children with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and more. Adult patients may have musculoskeletal disorders, cerebrovascular accident, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, diabetic foot care issues, arthritic conditions, fractures and other conditions.

Our custom-made foot orthotics address issues such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, neuropathy, flat feet, shin splints, Achilles tendonitis and posterior tibial tendonitis. KPO also supplies top-quality diabetic and orthopedic shoes including APEX, Atrex, Soletec, PW Minor and Dr. Comfort Shoes.

ON-SITE FABRICATION

At our on-site fabrication lab, we design and build over 95% of the prosthetic and orthotic products we provide our patients, giving Kootenai Prosthetics & Orthotics the ability to manage both process and quality, resulting in superior products.

Your KPO relationship may start with your practitioner, but you have another advocate behind the scenes: the P&O technician. With over 40 years combined experience, our techs have fabricated everything from simple carbon ankle-foot orthosis to suction suspension hip disarticulation prosthesis, each one carefully measured and modified.

Your body is distinct. Your goals are unique. Not only does your practitioner know this, so does the technician who will fabricate the prosthetic or orthotic device to get you up and moving. The KPO team is with you, every step of the way.
